Boegeezay Town, Rivercess County – The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Education with funding support from the World Bank under the IRISE Grant, has completed the extension of the Boegeezay Public School in Boegeezay Town, Monweh Statutory District.
A visit to the town confirmed that the new building is fully air-conditioned, providing a modern learning environment for students in the area.
The extension will see the school, which previously operated as a junior high, upgraded to a full senior high school upon dedication and full operation.
The Boegeezay Public School project is one of two expansion projects initiated in early January this year. However, while Boegeezay’s extension has been completed, construction on the Zammie Town project has stalled at the foundation level, with no clear update on when works will resume.
Once dedicated, Boegeezay Public School will become the first senior high school in Electoral District #1 and the fourth public high school in Rivercess County, following Cestos High School, Yarpah Public High School, and Neegba Public School.
The addition of Boegeezay Public School will increase the total number of high schools – both public and private – to seven across the county, a milestone many residents see as a step towards improving access to secondary education in rural Liberia.
Parents have expressed optimism that the new facility will ease the burden of students traveling to Grand Bassa or Montserrado to seek high school education.
