17 Liberian Nurses Depart for Specialized Training in Kenya

A group of seventeen Liberian nurses has departed the country for a two-year specialized training program at the Kenyatta National Hospital School of Nursing in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Ministry of Health officially bid farewell to the nurses on Tuesday, October 14, at the Roberts International Airport in Margibi County.

The training is being supported through two World Bank-funded initiatives: the Institutional Foundations to Improve Services for Health (IFISH) Project and the Health Security Project (HeSP).

Selected from public health facilities across Liberia, the nurses will undergo advanced training in critical areas of healthcare including Oncology Nursing, Trauma and Emergency Nursing, Critical Care Nursing, Neonatal Nursing, and Nephrology Nursing.

According to the Ministry, the initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the national health system by improving access to specialized care.

Upon completion of their studies, the nurses are expected to return to Liberia and play a key role in enhancing the quality and resilience of healthcare services across the country.

Health authorities expressed optimism that the knowledge and skills gained through the program will significantly contribute to the improvement of service delivery in both urban and rural health facilities.
