26 Liberian Students Depart for Morocco on Full Scholarships

Twenty-six Liberian students have departed the country for the Kingdom of Morocco to pursue higher education on full scholarships, in a major boost to Liberia’s efforts to enhance access to quality tertiary education.

The students, who left via Roberts International Airport (RIA), are beneficiaries of the Government of Liberia’s Bilateral Scholarship Program, administered through the Ministry of Education (MoE). Staff from the Ministry’s Division of Scholarships were on hand at the airport to provide support and facilitate a smooth departure process.

The group will study in various fields critical to Liberia’s development, including Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), Medicine, Geology, Engineering, Tourism Management, Computer Science, and Nursing. Degree programs will range in duration from two to seven years.

According to the Ministry of Education, the scholarship initiative aligns with the Human Capital Development pillar of the government’s ARREST Agenda—aimed at building a stronger skills base and preparing Liberian youth to meet national development challenges.

“This program not only opens doors for individual academic advancement but also contributes significantly to our broader goal of national growth, innovation, and opportunity through education,” the Ministry stated.

The departure marks another milestone in Liberia’s ongoing partnership with Morocco, and in the government’s commitment to investing in its young people through international academic opportunities.
