A groundbreaking ICT training program intended to equip young people of Grand Gedeh County with essential digital skills is facing delays as the Zwedru Youth Center Management struggles to secure the needed funds to renovate and prepare the facility.
Under the Rethink Tech Foundation’s mentorship initiative, more than forty computers are expected to be installed at the Zwedru Youth Center, forming the county’s first-ever ICT Lab an unprecedented step toward enhancing computer literacy and technical capacity among young people across the county.
The program, implemented through the Ministry of Youth and Sports local office and the Grand Gedeh Youth, is scheduled to begin by the end of December 2025 and will target participants from all eight administrative districts.
George Dogbeh, Coordinator of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Grand Gedeh County, praised Mr. Yohn Tozay, Mark Wilson, and officials of the Rethink Tech Foundation for championing an initiative he says could reshape young people’s prospects in the modern job market.
Dogbeh stressed that the ICT program carries “tremendous value” for the county’s youth, noting its potential to transform mindsets, broaden opportunities, and strengthen employability.

However, despite the program’s promise, the Youth Office is appealing urgently to stakeholders including lawmakers, community leaders, and Grand Gedeans in the diaspora to assist with renovation obligations before the second week of December 2025, the deadline set by the partner organization.
The estimated cost to complete the renovation and technical setup stands at US$4,000, a requirement the center must meet to activate the partnership and begin installations.
Without timely support, project managers warn that the long-awaited ICT lab and the critical skills it aims to deliver could be pushed further out of reach for Grand Gedeh’s youth.
