Boakai Warns Cabinet to Focus on Delivering Results Not 2029 Politics

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has issued a stern warning to his Cabinet, making it clear that his administration is focused on delivering immediate results for the Liberian people, not preparing for the 2029 presidential elections.

Speaking during the first Cabinet meeting of 2025 at the Executive Mansion on March 3, President Boakai did not mince words in his message to government officials. “If your focus is on 2029, you may respectfully resign. My priority is serving the Liberian people, right now,” he declared.

The President emphasized his commitment to a governance agenda centered on national development, accountability, and urgent reforms. As part of these efforts, he announced a full-scale investigation into unresolved cases of mysterious deaths, including the disappearance of the missing boys, the deaths of several auditors, and other cases of national concern.

“The Liberian people deserve answers,” Boakai said firmly. “No case will be ignored as we will bring closure to these tragedies and ensure justice is served.”

He directed law enforcement agencies to expedite their investigations, collaborate with international partners if necessary, and provide regular public updates. Boakai stressed that his administration would not tolerate impunity and is committed to full transparency.

Beyond the investigations, President Boakai outlined several priority areas requiring immediate action. These include strengthening the economy by closing loopholes and eliminating waste in public spending, accelerating road connectivity projects, especially in the southeastern region, addressing youth unemployment, and enhancing airport security to curb illegal mineral smuggling.

In a series of specific directives, the President ordered the General Services Agency (GSA) to upgrade the Ministerial Complex to meet international standards and instructed that streetlights across Monrovia be made fully operational. Additionally, he mandated increased support for the National AIDS Commission to better serve Liberia’s HIV-affected population.

“These are not suggestions, they are mandates,” Boakai told his Cabinet. “The time for talk is over. The Liberian people expect results, and we must deliver.”

The President called on all stakeholders, including law enforcement agencies, government institutions, and civil society organizations, to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigations and the implementation of his directives.
