Former Senate Pro Tempore Armah Zolu Jallah has criticized the administration of President Joseph Nyumah Boakai, accusing the government of failing to deliver on key promises and lacking transparency.
During a recent radio interview, Jallah expressed disappointment with the administration’s performance more than a year after Boakai assumed office. Once a vocal supporter of the Unity Party’s “RESCUE Mission,” Jallah now argues that the president must take stronger action to advance national development, warning that Boakai will ultimately bear responsibility for the administration’s shortcomings.
Jallah highlighted alleged acts of corruption, police brutality, poor coordination of government policies, and a failure to uphold the rule of law as major concerns. He argued that a government which campaigned on promises of transformation should prioritize transparency and accountability to meet the expectations of the Liberian people.
He criticized the slow pace of development under Boakai’s leadership, stating that current efforts do not reflect the vision of the government’s ARREST Agenda for Inclusive DevelopmentCertainly! Here’s the revised sentence:
The ARREST Agenda, Liberia’s fourth post-conflict National Development Plan, focuses on modernizing infrastructure, fostering good governance, revitalizing the economy, and empowering citizens through better education and healthcare.
Jallah accused Boakai of failing to deliver on these priorities, arguing that the administration’s limited efforts have not adequately served the Liberian people. He called on the government to reposition itself and take decisive action to rebuild public trust.
Addressing the ongoing leadership crisis in the House of Representatives, Jallah condemned the situation as an embarrassment to the government. He criticized the majority bloc by Representative Richard Nagbe Koon for disregarding the Supreme Court’s interpretation, which he said clearly outlined the House’s legal procedures.
Jallah urged majority bloc members to respect the law by granting embattled Speaker Jonathan Fonati Koffa due process. He also called on President Boakai to negotiate to resolve the impasse, warning that the deadlock could significantly hinder the administration’s ability to deliver on its promises.
The former Gbarpolu County Senator emphasized that resolving the crisis is crucial to ensuring legislative stability and maintaining public confidence in Boakai’s leadership.
