Grand Bassa- Recently, a Development Officer Moses Henry, from Grand Bassa County and a staunch supporter of the ruling Unity Party lashed out at Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), a major Opposition Political Party in the Country for allegedly failing to throw their weight behind a single candidate in the Nimba Senatorial bi-election. Henry, in a scathing statement, took to his social media page branding the CDC as “lazy” political party calling themselves major opposition. He alleged that all the candidates the party is supporting in the Nimba’s by-election refused to run on their party ticket.
The Grand Bassa official further accused the party of rising false alarms of election fraud and ballots tempering. He stated: “They couldn’t even muster the confidence to present a candidate in Nimba,” he said. “Now they’re shouting about rigging and fraud, but who’s really listening?”
Henry, who has consistently defended the Unity Party’s governance, asserted that the opposition’s absence was a strategic retreat following their decisive loss in Nimba during the 2023 general elections. “You get candidate in the race since you’re major opposition before you crying wolf?
Ehn you’re afraid of disgrace but you want to skip goat another candidate then after they defeat her heavily then you will come back and say we didn’t have candidate of our party ticket in the race, he added. He further intimated that the CDC did not feed a candidate in the Nimba senatorial by-election because the people of Nimba would have rejected their choice again as they did during the 2023 elections.“
The flogging you received in Nimba 2023 made your scare to place someone on your ticket Nimbians were going to reject that candidate vehemently like outside child. Tomorrow your will be crying foul while we’re celebrating,” he asserted. His remarks have stirred public reaction and added fuel to the ongoing political friction between the ruling party and its challengers.
