Nimba County – Emmanuel Yartoe, head of campaign for senatorial candidate Edith Gongloe-Weh, launched a scathing attack on Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) Political Leader, Musa Bility, labeling him a “disgrace.”
Yartoe did not mince his words during a fiery media engagement on Tuesday, following what he called Bility’s “betrayal and abandonment” of his own party’s candidate in the just-ended Nimba County by-election.
“Musa Bility is a disgrace,” Yartoe declared. “You stand by your candidate when they are suffering, you don’t run away.”
The comments come as tensions mount over Bility’s perceived detachment from the electoral process.
According to Yartoe, Bility failed to actively support or even appear alongside his own candidate, during the campaign. “You saw Musa voting yesterday, but where was he during the campaign?” Yartoe asked rhetorically.
The backlash intensified following CMC’s “premature” concession on April 22, 2025. In an official statement, the party acknowledged the apparent victory of Samuel Kogar, backed by the MDR and Unity Party alliance.
CMC cited credible data from its internal monitoring team, stating that Kogar held an “unassailable lead.” The party then extended early congratulations to Kogar and his alliance, urging respect for the will of the people.
But Yartoe who heads Madam Edith Gongloe-Weh’s Campaign Team is not buying it, as he accused Bility of abandoning the very candidate he endorsed and leaving the campaign machinery to fend for itself. “He used his party candidate as a sacrificial limb, only to disappear when it mattered most,” Yartoe lamented.
The accusations highlight potential failure of CMC, raising questions about Musa Bility’s leadership and commitment to grassroots candidates.
As the National Elections Commission (NEC) continues to verify results, political observers are watching closely to see how this public fallout could impact the party’s credibility in future elections.
For now, the political atmosphere in Nimba remains charged, with Bility yet to respond publicly to the explosive remarks from within his own party’s ranks.
