Monroviaa – The Majority Bloc has outrightly rejected the latest ruling of the Supreme Court, terming it as an interference with their powers. One of the vocal critics of the High Court, Representative James Kolleh, has even threatened Justices of the Supreme Court with impeachment while insinuating that they are misusing their power.
Kolleh’s warning to the Justices came after the Court rendered a judgment in favor of the embattled House Speaker J. Fonati Koffa. The ruling, which disqualifies Representative Nagbe Koon, has twinkled pubic debates about the ongoing political stalemate on Capitol Hill between two factions: the majority bloc without a Speaker and the minority bloc with a Speaker.
Rep. Kolleh further argued that the Legislature is a separate branch of government, and does not need approval from the Supreme Court to operate. Kolleh claimed that just as the Court can rule, they, too, have the power to impeach.
“They are not to interfere. We don’t need their approval. We are a separate branch of government. We went to the Court in the spirit of collaboration, not submission. If that opportunity is going to be misused, let it be clear, we have our own authority. Just as the Court can rule, we also have the power to impeach.” Hon. James Kolleh, Representative, District #2, Bong County with such a strong-worded statement from Rep. Kolleh warning Justices of potential impeachment, political pundits and analysts are predicting a possible showdown between the two branches of government: The Legislature and the Judiciary.
