LPRC Among Top 15 Best-Performing Government Entities—MD Tweh Presents Award to Workforce

Monrovia, Liberia—On Friday, June 13, 2025, the Liberia Petroleum Refinery Company (LPRC) was among fifteen government entities recognized for its outstanding commitment to accountability, transparency, and high performance under the 2024 Performance Management and Compliance System.

This recognition marks a significant milestone in Liberia’s ongoing dedication to citizen-centered governance and the principles of accountability and transparency.

Through the Performance Management and Compliance System, LPRC is shifting from promises to measurable performance, from inputs to meaningful impact, and from excuses to excellence fully aligned with the ARREST Agenda for inclusive development.

Following the award ceremony, Amos Tweh, Managing Director of LPRC, emphasized that the honor is not merely a celebration but a call to institutionalize a new culture of performance.

“This is the legacy we owe to the Liberian people an institution that works, and works for them,” Tweh stated.

“Today’s recognition brings both reflection and renewed commitment. He praised the dedication, discipline, and leadership of his team, which enabled LPRC to meet and in some cases exceed the performance targets set last year.

“These targets included the development and publication of a Service Delivery Charter and the strengthening of internal systems to implement these charters,” Tweh explained.

The Managing Director highlighted that LPRC demonstrated clear planning, robust systems, and visible service improvements setting a benchmark for others to match or surpass.

“Our journey toward a performance-based LPRC must be bold but also fair. The data tells a compelling story of progress while also revealing areas where improvement is needed,” he concluded.

For his part, Jacob Smith, Deputy Managing Director for Administration, lavished praise on the employees and contractors for the honor bestowed upon LPRC.

“This recognition follows LPRC’s successful implementation of a performance-based management approach which, despite initial challenges, has resulted in significant operational improvements,” Smith said.

Meanwhile, Eric Ceekay Sayee, Managing Director for Operations, extended warm appreciation to MD Amos Tweh, the senior management team, and the entire workforce for this milestone achievement.

“Mr. President, we pledged to do more in accelerating the ARREST agenda for inclusive development, particularly in strengthening LPRC’s corporate culture,” Sayee noted.
