Monrovia, Liberia – On Friday, June 13, 2025, the Jackson F. Doe Memorial Regional Referral Hospital was among fifteen government institutions recognized for outstanding commitment to accountability, transparency, and high performance under the 2024 Performance Management and Compliance System.
This prestigious recognition marks a significant milestone in Liberia’s ongoing efforts toward citizen-centered governance, with a renewed focus on measurable impact and quality service delivery aligned with the government’s ARREST Agenda for inclusive national development.
Located in Tappita, Nimba County, Jackson F. Doe Memorial Hospital earned the distinction of being ranked the second-best institution nationwide—and the only health facility to be named to the Principal’s List, an elite honor reserved for high-performing public sector entities.
The hospital’s recognition underscores a broader transformation within Liberia’s public service landscape—shifting from promises to measurable results, from inputs to meaningful impact, and from excuses to excellence.
Speaking after the award ceremony, the hospital’s Chief Administrative Officer described the recognition not merely as an achievement, but a challenge to do more.
“This is a mandate to institutionalize a new culture of performance and healthcare delivery,” the official stated.
The hospital’s leadership also expressed deep appreciation to its dedicated team and the national government.
“This recognition says a lot about the work we are doing,” read a statement from the hospital’s leadership. “I want to sincerely thank all the staff at Jackson F. Doe for their hard work, dedication, and sacrifice in making this possible. This is a collective achievement.”
Gratitude was also extended to President Joseph N. Boakai and the Government of Liberia for acknowledging the crucial role of health institutions in national development.
“We are deeply honored by this recognition. It fuels our commitment to continue working even harder to serve the Liberian people with compassion and excellence.”
Over the years, J. F. Doe Memorial Hospital has become a cornerstone of Liberia’s public health system, widely respected for its clinical excellence, medical innovation, and capacity building in a region where access to specialized care remains limited.
President Boakai formally recognized the top-performing institutions on Friday, June 13, 2025, during a ceremony held at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town.
The event highlighted the government’s commitment to promoting transparency, accountability, and high standards in public service.
As the only healthcare facility honored, Jackson F. Doe Memorial Hospital stands not only as a symbol of institutional excellence but also as a beacon of hope for the future of equitable and sustainable healthcare in Liberia.
