The Plenary of the Honorable House of Representatives has mandated its Public Accounts Expenditure Committee to work along with the General Auditing Commission (GAC) to conduct a full audit of the August Body.
Plenary decision stems from a communication from Bong County Electoral District #1 Representative Prince Koinah in which he formally requested that the Plenary authorize the General Auditing Commission (GAC) to conduct a comprehensive audit of the House’s operations.
During the reading of his communication and floor debate, Hon. Koinah said the House has not been audited in recent years and stressed the importance of leading by example in maintaining public trust.
The proposed audit would cover both the 54th and 55th Legislatures, spanning fiscal periods from July 1, 2021, to May 31, 2025.
The audit aims to assess whether the House has operated in line with established rules and laws, and whether its systems for governance, risk management, and internal controls are effective.
Representative Koinah suggested that the GAC be given 90 days to complete the review.
The communication has been forwarded to the House’s Public Accounts and Expenditure Committee, which will coordinate with the General Auditing Commission to move the process forward.
