The 2023 Campaign Spokesman of the Opposition Congress for Democratic Change (CDC), Cllr. Kanio Bai Gbala, is no longer mincing his words and concealing his thoughts about the future of CDC.
It is becoming apparent that Cllr. Gbala and others, including Rep. Thomas Fallah and Senator Saah Joseph, are opting for a CDC without ex-President George Weah as its political leader.
On June 10, 2025, Cllr. Gbala shared a commentary on his official Facebook page, offering a scathing criticism of CDC Political Leader George Weah for ‘disrespecting’ the Doe family. A son of Grand Gedeh and a fellow CDCian, Ernest Levi Madison, had described ex-President Weah’s action towards the Doe family as “disrespectful and discourteous.”
“I agree with everything in the letter. No need to rewrite. My cousin Levi articulated so very well my thoughts on the Cow Wahala,” CDC 2023 Campaign Spokesman, Cllr. Kanio Bai Gbala, wrote on June 10, 2025.
After less than two weeks, Gbala is again hinting a post-Weah CDC, which suggests that he seemingly wants a party without Weah as the political leader. Gbala does not share this view alone. Some other diehard partisans also do. It is rumoured that prominent CDC figures like Rep. Fallah and Senator Joseph also share Cllr. Gbala’s view.
“Facebook: What’s on your mine. Me: Trying to imagine what the post-GMW era in the CDC may look like,” Cllr. Gbala wrote on his Facebook page.
In a follow-up comment on the same Facebook post, Cllr. Gbala claimed that there are more prepared persons in the CDC to take over. In another response to a diehard CDCian, J. Jefferson Chesson, Cllr. Gbala said that post-Weah era will reveal the depth and strength of their party.
With Cllr. Gbala’s public disapproval of ex-President Weah for the second time, political pundits are predicting a permanent fallout, if that has not already happened.
