Liberia’s 177th Independence Day Orator Dr. Robtel Neajai Pailey to Deliver Public Lecture at University of Liberia

Acclaimed Liberian scholar and activist Dr. Robtel Neajai Pailey is set to deliver a public lecture at the University of Liberia on Monday, July 7, 2025.

The lecture, titled “Aid and Its Discontents,” will take place at the IBB School of International Studies on the Capitol Hill campus of the state-run university. Dr. Pailey, who has garnered international recognition for her academic work and advocacy, announced the event on social media, encouraging those in Monrovia and surrounding areas to attend.

“If you’re in Monrovia, Liberia, or its environs on 7 July, check out this public lecture I’ll be delivering entitled ‘Aid and Its Discontents’. I’m grateful to colleagues at the University of Liberia’s IBB School for International Studies for organizing,” she stated.

Dr. Pailey’s upcoming lecture marks her second major public engagement in Liberia in recent history, following her powerful Independence Day oration mid-2024.
