The National Port Authority (NPA), in collaboration with APM Terminals Liberia and the Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA), is poised to commission a milestone in the modernization of Liberia’s maritime infrastructure.
His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia, has been invited as Special Guest of Honor to officially commission new port equipment and inaugurate navigational aid at the Freeport of Monrovia.
The momentous event is proposed to take place on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM, at the Freeport of Monrovia.
This significant occasion will mark three important advancements in Liberia’s maritime and economic development:
1. Commissioning of New Port and Marine Equipment:
The deployment of modern handling and safety equipment represents a leap forward in operational efficiency, safety standards, and service delivery at the Freeport of Monrovia.
2. Launch of navigational aid
The Freeport of Monrovia will commence night-time vessel navigation, a transformative step in enhancing port productivity, reducing vessel turnaround times, and attracting increased maritime traffic.
3. Presidential Tour of Upgraded Port Infrastructure:
His Excellency will tour the newly modernized sections of the port, highlighting critical investments made in alignment with the government’s ARREST Agenda, which emphasizes infrastructure revitalization as a foundation for economic transformation and inclusive growth.
This event reflects the strategic collaboration between the Government of Liberia, through the National Port Authority, and its concessionaire, APM Terminals Liberia. It further reflects Liberia’s commitment to regional trade competitiveness and sustainable development, in line with international best practices in port operations.
The NPA and APM Terminals Liberia express their deepest honor in welcoming President Boakai and reaffirm their dedication to supporting national goals through standardized port services.”
