Patriotism;Traditional Leaders Rehabilitate Critical Road in Nyorwein, Call for Government Intervention

Kampala Town, River Cess County – Traditional leaders in Nyorwein Administrative District have taken matters into their own hands by rehabilitating a key section of their road that had become completely inaccessible to residents.

Speaking to Verity News, Sam Toby, former chairman of the Traditional Council in the area, said the road had been in a deplorable state for too long, cutting off communities from accessing nearby towns.

People always see traditional leaders as only performing traditional roles, but this action shows we can unite and help our people and government too,” Toby said.

He called on the national government and local authorities to view their effort as a wake-up call to prioritize the road, describing it as the shortest route to Monweh and Kploh.

Also speaking was Gbotoe Dunn, another traditional leader, who explained that their intervention was intended to send a strong message to the local administration about the urgent need for better roads in the area.

“Our wives and children could not go to Yarpah Town to buy common things like vita and salt because the road was cut off completely,” Dunn lamented.

He added that the presence of a sacred devil during the rehabilitation should not be seen as intimidation to passersby but rather as a symbol of the wisdom and bravery their community exhibited to solve the problem.

Residents have commended the traditional leaders for the initiative and joined calls for government intervention to ensure long-term rehabilitation of the road to ease transportation and economic activities in the district.
