Monrovia, Liberia — The Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has announced an important development in enhancing access to public services: the official dedication of newly decentralized Passport Application Centers in Bong and Grand Gedeh Counties. The dedication ceremonies are set to take place early next week as part of the celebrations marking Liberia’s 178th Independence Anniversary.
This initiative marks a significant achievement under the leadership of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sara Beysolow Nyanti. Her dedication to improving public service delivery and expanding government reach has been pivotal. The newly established centers aim to make passport services more accessible, particularly for citizens in remote areas who have previously faced challenges due to the centralization of these services in Monrovia.
The centralization of passport services created logistical and financial challenges for residents of remote counties, often requiring them to travel long distances to apply for passports. The introduction of centers in Bong and Grand Gedeh now allows residents to process their applications closer to home, saving time and reducing costs. This move is expected to significantly improve the efficiency of service delivery.
Minister Nyanti highlighted the symbolic importance of these new centers, stating, “These centers are not just buildings; they are symbols of inclusion, equity, and the government’s promise to bring services to the people.” She emphasized that this initiative represents both a proud moment for the Ministry and a significant step forward in their decentralization agenda.
The dedication events will include local government officials, traditional leaders, and community members, reinforcing the collaborative spirit of the project. The Ministry has assured the public that the centers are fully operational and equipped with the necessary technology and trained personnel to provide top-notch passport services.
As Liberia celebrates another year of independence, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterates its commitment to citizen-centered governance and the ongoing decentralization of services, aiming to empower citizens and enhance accessibility across the nation.
