Harper, Maryland County –Nathaniel Walker, age 47, on Saturday, July 26, 2025 was arrested by the Liberian National Police after allegedly sexually assaulted a two-year-old girl at his home in Fish Town, Harper District.

According to Chief Inspector Leona M. Gaye-Kangar, head of the Liberia National Police Women and Children Protection Section for Region Five, the case came to light when the victim’s mother, 32-year-old Oretha Williams, returned from the local market to find neighbors in an uproar over her daughter’s condition.

Neighbors say Edward P. Wesly witnessed the assault and recorded the entire incident on his mobile phone, then alerted Ms. Williams, who immediately filed a complaint at the Fish Town police station.

Officers transported the toddler to Fish Town Clinic, where medical staff conducted an examination that, according to the police report, confirmed signs of sexual abuse.

During questioning, Walker admitted encountering the child without clothes, placing her on his lap, and engaging in sexual activity. His confession, together with the video evidence and medical findings, led to his formal charge.

Walker is accused of statutory rape, a first-degree felony under Section 14.70 of the Revised Rape Law of Liberia, which

carries a possible sentence of life imprisonment and is classified as non-bailable.

He has been remanded to Harper Central Prison ahead of his trial before the Fourth Judicial Circuit Court, expected to convene later this year. In a comparable case in December 2023, a 33-year-old Fish Town resident received a 50-year sentence after being convicted of raping a six-year-old child, underscoring the court’s tough stance on crimes against minors.

Community leaders and human rights advocates have condemned the attack and called for swift justice, urging parents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior to authorities immediately.
