A shocking incident of sexual assault has rocked residents of Sue Town in Grand Bassa County, as a thirteen-year-old girl has come forward alleging that she was raped by her uncle, only identified as Wlojay. The disturbing incident took place in a bordering area between Grand Bassa and Nimba Counties, leaving the young victim traumatized and seeking justice.

According to the teenage girl, the alleged sexual assault occurred while she was asleep on a mat in her home. Her intoxicated uncle, Wlojay, allegedly left his own bed and came to where she was sleeping, committing the unthinkable act of sexual assault. Despite her efforts to fight back and scream for help, Wlojay silenced her by placing a towel over her mouth.

The young girl recounted the harrowing experience in her own words while speaking to Verity News, explaining, “When I was shouting he put the towel to my mouth, I left fighting and he jumped on me. People eventually came around and he fled the scene.”

This distressing incident comes just two days after another girl in the same area was reportedly raped by a teacher who also managed to escape before being apprehended. Sue Town, located in Electoral District #4 of Grand Bassa County, is facing challenges in maintaining law and order, as this district has six assigned police officers who lack mobility to effectively carry out arrests.

Local residents are calling for urgent action to ensure the safety of young girls in the community and to hold perpetrators of sexual violence accountable for their actions. Authorities have been urged to bolster security measures and take steps to prevent further occurrences of such heinous crimes from taking place in the area.

The community is rallying behind the young victim and demanding justice for her traumatic experience, with hopes that measures will be put in place to protect vulnerable individuals and bring those responsible for these acts to face the full force of the law.
