Former President George Weah Extends Condolences to Ghana Over Fatal Helicopter Crash

Monrovia, Liberia – August 6, 2025:

Former Liberian President George Manneh Weah has expressed deep sorrow and solidarity with the government and people of Ghana following a tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of several senior government officials.

In a statement issued from his office on Wednesday in Rehab, Paynesville, the former President described the incident as a “profound national loss” and extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims.

According to reports, the helicopter which departed the Ghanaian capital, Accra was headed toward a destination in the Ashanti Region when it went down, killing all those on board. Among the victims were Ghana’s Minister of Defence, Edward Omane Boamah, and the Minister of Environment, Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.

President Weah offered prayers for the souls of the departed and urged the people of Ghana to remain strong during this challenging period.

My thoughts and prayers are with the government and people of Ghana, especially the grieving families who have lost their loved ones in this devastating tragedy,” the statement read. “May the Lord grant them comfort and healing.”
