BUCHANAN ~ In a bid to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency, the Grand Bassa County Administration, under the leadership of Superintendent Karyou Johnson, officially handed over two Toyota pickup trucks to county authorities on Tuesday, August 12, 2025. The presentation ceremony took place at the County Administrative Building in Buchanan City.
Funded through the County Development Fund (CDF/SDF), the new vehicles are part of broader efforts by the local government to improve logistics and mobility for key departments. Superintendent Johnson noted that the administration remains committed to equipping county institutions with the necessary resources to function effectively.
According to Johnson, two additional vehicles ~ a 14-seater bus for the judiciary and an ambulance for the County Health Team ~ are also expected to arrive soon, pending the completion of procurement processes.
County Finance Officer Paul Y. Piah disclosed that the total cost for the four vehicles stands at US$160,000. Each Toyota pickup, inclusive of duty fees, was acquired at US$35,000.
County Administrative Officer James Duen expressed appreciation for the support, highlighting how the vehicle will enhance the efficiency of his office’s operations.
Dr. Arnold Hill, representing the Grand Bassa University (GBU), also extended gratitude on behalf of the institution, stressing the importance of the vehicle in supporting the university’s agricultural initiatives. GBU is scheduled to officially receive its vehicle on Monday, during a special ceremony coinciding with the visit of the university’s president.
The initiative reflects the county administration’s continued dedication to sustainable development and improved service delivery, ensuring that public institutions are adequately supported to meet the needs of the people of Grand Bassa.
