Demolished But Not Defeated: Former VP Vows Return Amid CDC Party HQ Loss

Monrovia, Liberia – In a dramatic turn of events that has gripped national attention, former Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor has issued a stirring public statement following the eviction and demolition of property associated with the Blue Revolution movement — a political faction aligned with her post-vice-presidential activism.

Describing the day as a “defining moment” for Liberia’s political landscape, Howard-Taylor acknowledged the emotional toll the incident has taken on her supporters but praised what she called the “gallant men and women” of the Blue Revolution ~ Congress For Democratic Change ~ for maintaining composure and adhering to the rule of law despite the personal loss many experienced.

For me, as the former Vice President under the CDC-led government; chosen by then Standard Bearer Weah and then President Weah to serve in this capacity; I respectfully salute the gallant men and women of the Mighty Blue Revolution,” she said. “They have shown courage and strength and tempered emotion in the face of it all.”

The former Vice President, who served under President George Weah, emphasized the importance of resilience, invoking the words of an unknown writer: “In the darkest hour, the soul is replenished and given strength to continue and endure.”

Howard-Taylor framed the incident not as a defeat, but as a call to recommit to the movement’s founding ideals. She pledged to help rebuild not only the physical infrastructure that was lost but also the morale and unity of supporters — many of whom, she said, represent half of Liberia’s population.

We are more than able to reset and rebuild it all,” she declared. “For the original intent of the Blue Revolution has not yet been accomplished. We must keep pushing until the change our forefathers prayed for, and many comrades died for, becomes a reality.”

She concluded with a heartfelt call to national purpose, urging citizens to honor those who have suffered and sacrificed in the struggle for a just and equitable Liberia.

Their wish was for a land of liberty, flowing with milk and honey, freedom, inclusion, equality, unity, plenty and laughter. We must not fail this sacred trust,” she said. “May we fulfill this mandate for posterity.”

As reactions continue to pour in from across the political spectrum, Saturday’s events mark not only a physical loss for one political group, but a symbolic moment in the ongoing contest for Liberia’s democratic and social future.
