A political pressure group in Montserrado County, known as the District #2 Frontliners, has raised serious concerns over the alleged mismanagement of public funds by the district’s lawmaker, Hon. Sekou S. Kanneh.
In a press statement released Tuesday, August 26, 2025, the group claims that Hon. Kanneh received $37,000 in development funds over the past two years without properly informing or accounting to the people of District #2.
The Frontliners say the lack of transparency surrounding these funds is deeply troubling and erodes public trust in the district’s leadership.
According to Wakocco Prince, Chairman of the Frontliners, the issue came to light after a review of government allocations revealed the unreported funds.
In response, aides to Hon. Kanneh stated that the money was used to complete the Jacob Town public school, a project located within the district.
However, the Frontliners questioned the credibility of this claim, citing the absence of any formal reports or documentation from the lawmaker’s office.
The group insists that residents have a right to know how their tax dollars and public funds are being used, especially when tied to community development.
They are now demanding a full breakdown of how the $37,000 was spent, including receipts, contracts, and updates on completed work.
To address the matter, the Frontliners are calling on the District Development Council to convene an emergency district meeting.
They say such a forum will allow constituents to seek clarity and ensure transparency moving forward.
The group warned that it will continue to press for answers and will not remain silent in the face of what it describes as financial opacity.
“Let us stand together for accountability and a brighter future for District #2,” the statement concluded.
