Monrovia, Liberia – Grand Gedeh County Senator Zoe Emmanuel Pennue has denied allegations that he is associated with threatening WhatsApp messages reportedly made against a critic, Melvin Kamara.
The Senator, in a sharp reaction on Tuesday, distanced himself from Kamara’s claims that he received threatening messages from his official WhatsApp number. According to Pennue, the number allegedly linked to the conversation does not belong to him.
“The number that was used to send those messages is not mine. I have no connection with Mr. Kamara or any threat against him or his family,” Senator Pennue clarified in a brief audio statement.
His denial, however, comes in the wake of public concern after Kamara shared screenshots of a WhatsApp exchange with this paper, which he claimed originated from the Senator’s verified contact.
Kamara further alleged that his life and that of his family were in danger and called on the Liberia National Police (LNP) to intervene.
Despite the Senator’s denial, critics have pointed to existing records and previous public references showing that the WhatsApp number in question has been widely used as Senator Pennue’s official Orange number.
This contradiction has fueled further debate among citizens and political observers.
