Monrovia, Liberia, August 28, 2025 – “I am writing you formally to notify you of my decision to resign as Director General, Fiscal Affairs,” the letter, a copy of which is in possession of Verity Newspaper, said.
Able D. Nowon, Director General for Fiscal Affairs at the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC), has officially tendered his resignation, requesting to vacate his post effective August 31, 2025.
In his resignation letter dated July 4, 2025, Mr. Nowon asked for immediate termination of his duties, expressing gratitude to the MCC for the opportunity to serve amid allegations of corruption at that institution in past months.
“I am incredibly grateful for the time I have had while working at the Monrovia City Corporation,” he stated. “I have learned so much and enjoyed working with such a talented and dedicated team.”
While Mr. Nowon gave no reason for his resignation, the sudden nature of his departure has stirred public speculation, especially given the sensitive nature of his role in fiscal affairs. Observers note that positions involving financial oversight at public institutions have often been at the center of past corruption investigations.
MCC officials have not issued any formal statement regarding the resignation or any ongoing inquiry.
As of press time, it remains unclear who will replace Mr. Nowon or whether an interim appointment will be made.
