The Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety, particularly for commercial drivers, through its swift response to a taxi fire incident that occurred Thursday on 2nd Street in Sinkor.
The fire broke out in a commercial taxi with several passengers on board. Fortunately, all occupants were able to escape the vehicle unharmed.
Initial efforts by bystanders to control the blaze—using fire extinguishers, sand, dirt, and water—proved ineffective. However, the situation was quickly brought under control following the timely arrival of the MCC Fire Truck, operated by the General Services Directorate.
The MCC fire crew played a critical role in preventing further damage and ensuring the safety of both passengers and nearby residents. Although the vehicle sustained significant damage, no injuries were reported thanks to the quick evacuation and the fire team’s efficient response.
This incident highlights MCC’s ongoing efforts to enhance emergency response services and protect both drivers and the commuting public. The corporation’s prompt and professional handling of the situation reflects its dedication to public safety and the well-being of Monrovia’s residents.
