West Africa Enterprise Denies Involvement in Sale of Spoiled Goods in Ganta

By Archie Boan

Monrovia, Liberia ~ West Africa Enterprise has firmly denied any involvement in the sale of contaminated products in Ganta, Nimba County, following reports that spoiled goods were discovered at a local outlet allegedly linked to the company.

The reports, which surfaced over the weekend on social media, claimed that inspectors from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry uncovered rotten and unwholesome food items at Branch #26 in Ganta. The inspection was led by Inspector General Meator Gbatu on Saturday, September 6.

In response, West Africa Enterprise issued a statement distancing itself from the outlet at the center of the controversy, stating that Branch #26 is not owned or managed by the company. The firm clarified that the branch is operated independently by businessman Samir Awada under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which allows him to act as an agent.

We categorically reject any act of defamation against our entity and wish to clarify recent misinformation,” the company said in the release. “Branch #26 in Ganta does not represent West Africa Enterprise.”

The company emphasized that it upholds rigorous food safety standards across all of its authorized outlets and said it has not supplied products to the Ganta branch in over a month. According to the statement, the spoiled goods allegedly found at the location were sourced independently by the agent and not through the company’s official supply chain.

Such actions are contrary to the values and quality we stand for,” the company added. It further stated that agents operating under its MoU are strictly required to purchase only approved products that meet West Africa Enterprise’s safety and quality standards.

Reassuring its customers, West Africa Enterprise reiterated its commitment to food safety and quality, urging the public to visit any of its verified outlets to experience the company’s “uncompromising standards and pristine product quality.”

One of Liberia’s major distributors of frozen food products, West Africa Enterprise operates outlets nationwide. The company says it continues to monitor its agents and supply chain closely in light of growing public concern over food safety across the country.
