The General Auditing Commission (GAC) has officially launched a comprehensive audit of the Grand Bassa County’s County and Social Development Funds for the period spanning 2018 to 2023.
This significant undertaking follows a formal request from Hon. . J. Clarence T. Banks, Representative of District #2 in Grand Bassa County.
In a letter addressed to Representative Banks, Auditor General P. Garswa Jackson, Sr. confirmed that the audit process is already underway.
The scope of the audit will thoroughly examine the financial activities associated with District #2 in Grand Bassa County, ensuring a detailed evaluation of how funds have been managed and utilized over the past five years.
The GAC has stated that a Draft Management Letter is forthcoming, which will be presented to the Grand Bassa County Administration. This letter is anticipated to outline findings and recommendations based on the audit’s findings.
Auditor General Jackson emphasized the Commission’s unwavering commitment to fostering accountability and transparency within financial management across the Government of Liberia.
The audit aims not only to assess past activities but also to strengthen the integrity of financial practices moving forward, ensuring that development funds are used effectively for the benefit of the community.
