Liberia Signs Second Country Programme Framework with IAEA for 2026–2030

Liberia has signed its second Country Programme Framework (CPF) with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), setting the stage for enhanced cooperation in nuclear technology from 2026 to 2030.

The agreement was formalized on September 17, 2025, by Dr. J. Alexander Nuetah, Liberia’s Minister of Agriculture, and Mr. Hua Liu, IAEA Deputy Director General and Head of the Department of Technical Cooperation.

The CPF is a strategic medium-term plan that outlines priority areas for technical collaboration, enabling nuclear science and technology to support Liberia’s national development goals through targeted assistance and capacity building.

A member of the IAEA since 1962, Liberia’s 2026–2030 CPF focuses on five key sectors:

Radiation Safety and Nuclear Security

Food and Agriculture

Health and Nutrition

Energy and Industry

Water Resources and Environmental Management

This framework will guide the application of nuclear technologies to tackle Liberia’s development challenges while strengthening institutional capabilities and human resources in these priority areas.
