Fire Service Says Investigators Denied Entry into Former President Weah’s Residence

By: Archie Boan

The Liberia National Fire Service (LNFS) has disclosed that its investigators were prevented from entering the 9th Street residence of former President George Manneh Weah on Wednesday after a fire outbreak earlier in the day.

The incident, which engulfed parts of the former president’s Monrovia residence, was brought under control through the combined efforts of LNFS firefighters and community residents.

In a statement issued Wednesday, the Fire Service confirmed that its personnel returned to the scene hours later to carry out an assessment and determine the cause of the blaze but were denied access to the premises.

On the morning of September 24, 2025, fire investigators went to the 9th Street residence of former President George Weah to investigate and establish the cause of the fire but were denied entry into the compound,” the LNFS statement read.

The agency, however, did not disclose who barred its investigators from entering the property or provide further details regarding the obstruction.

Authorities have yet to confirm the extent of the damage or the possible cause of the fire. It also remains unclear whether the denial of access will delay or hinder the ongoing investigation.
