Fassell bow out of CAF Champions League after 3-0 defeat to Alger

By Danesius Marteh,

Algiers, Algeria, FC Fassell have bowed out of the 2025/2026 CAF Champions League following a 3-0 defeat to MC Alger at the Ali Ammar Stadium in Algiers, Algeria on 27 September.

Ayoub Abdellaoui found the curtain raiser after 18 minutes when he pounced on a loosed ball off the head of Titus Yeah.

Soufiane Bayazid profited from a lack of communication between goalkeeper Ahmed Tijan Savage and defender Josephus Mantor with an outstretched leg to double their lead in the on the stroke of half time.

Josiah Cea had Fassell’s best chance when he bent over a scrabble ball with the play emanating from captain Zah Rahan Kranger.

That looked to be game over for Fassell until Amine Messoussa confirmed the win with a powerful shot to Savage’s left post.

Black Man Warriors, another Liberian continental representative, lost 4-1 to Benin’s Coton FC at the Stade de Kegue in Lome, Togo on 26 September.

Fassell lost 3-0 on aggregate, having drawn the first leg 0-0 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe sports complex in Paynesville on 20 September.
