IPCC Advances Plans to Establish Secretariat Ahead of October 15 Elections

The Inter-Party Consultative Committee (IPCC) is moving closer to establishing a Secretariat that will oversee its operations during the upcoming general elections scheduled for October 15, 2025.

On Thursday, October 9, 2025, the IPCC, which brings together all registered political parties, coalitions, and alliances in Liberia, formally presented a draft document to the National Elections Commission (NEC) Board of Commissioners.

The document seeks official approval for the creation of the Secretariat, a body intended to coordinate IPCC activities in the lead-up to the elections.

The presentation was made by Mr. Thomas Q. Walker, Head of the IPCC Ad-hoc Election Committee.

In response, NEC Chairperson Madam Davidetta Browne Lansanah praised the committee’s efforts and urged the Organizing Committee for the IPCC Secretariat to work closely with the Political Affairs and Legal Sections of the NEC to finalize the document.

Once operational, the Secretariat will play a pivotal role in guiding the IPCC’s initiatives, promoting collaboration among political parties, and ensuring a smooth electoral process.

The National Elections Commission continues to encourage Liberians to stay informed and engaged as the nation approaches this critical democratic milestone.
