Gorblee, Grand Bassa County – The Principal of Gorblee High School, Madam Naomi Nagbe, has been suspended and fined for allegedly breaching Ministry of Education (MoE) regulations after reportedly increasing graduation fees beyond the approved amount.
According to an official communication from the District Education Office (DEO) for Educational District #3A, the disciplinary action was taken following an investigation conducted on October 29, 2025. The inquiry, led by District Education Officer Hon. Philip Wrogbo, concluded that Madam Nagbe “willfully violated” the Ministry’s directive by imposing unauthorized graduation fees for the 2024/2025 academic year.
A suspension letter seen by this paper stated that Madam Nagbe showed “no remorse or regret” for her actions and allegedly demonstrated “gross disrespect and insubordination” toward the DEO during the course of the investigation.
Community stakeholders, including members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), reportedly confirmed that the increased fees were imposed without consultation or prior approval—an act that contravenes the Ministry’s financial and administrative policies governing public schools.
As a result, Principal Nagbe has been suspended indefinitely and fined One Hundred Fifty Thousand Liberian Dollars (L$150,000), payable into the Ministry’s Revenue Account within 30 working days. She has also been instructed to refrain from all academic and administrative duties at Gorblee High School and to submit a formal letter of apology to the District Education Officer before resuming her post.
In the interim, Vice Principal for Administration, Mr. Philip Jimmy, has been appointed as Acting Principal to oversee school operations.
When contacted, Madam Nagbe said she “reserves all comments” and awaits further action from the County Education Officer.
The Ministry of Education has warned that failure to comply with the disciplinary measures could result in additional administrative sanctions in accordance with the Ministry’s Code of Conduct.
