NPHIL, Health Ministry Step Up Mpox Prevention Efforts

Monrovia – The National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL), in partnership with the Ministry of Health (MoH), on Friday held a major press conference focused on preventing the spread of Mpox across the country. The event forms part of ongoing national efforts to enhance public awareness and strengthen preparedness against infectious diseases.

The press conference brought together health experts, government officials, and media representatives to discuss key strategies for Mpox prevention, including early case detection, hygiene promotion, and community engagement.

Officials from both NPHIL and the Health Ministry emphasized the critical role of public education and responsible media reporting in preventing potential outbreaks. They urged citizens to remain vigilant, practice good hygiene, and immediately report any suspected cases to health authorities.

“Early detection and community awareness are essential in controlling the spread of Mpox,” NPHIL representatives noted, reaffirming Liberia’s commitment to maintaining a strong disease surveillance and response system.

The Ministry of Health also reiterated its continued collaboration with NPHIL and international health partners to promote nationwide awareness and strengthen preventive measures.

NPHIL serves as Liberia’s lead agency for disease prevention and control, health promotion, and emergency preparedness and response coordination.
