Monrovia, Liberia — Bong County Senator Prince K. Moye, Sr., has called on Public Works Minister Roland Layfette Giddings to reconsider the ministry’s position on a proposal by the Citizens Movement for Change (CMC) to construct a 38-meter bridge over the Jor River in Gbarnga.
In a formal communication addressed to Minister Giddings and dated November 17, Moye urged the ministry to collaborate with the CMC to ensure that all technical, legal and administrative requirements are met for the implementation of the project. He said such cooperation would serve the best interests of the people of Bong County.
Beyond the Jor River bridge proposal, Moye highlighted the urgent need for the construction, reconstruction or repair of several other bridges across Bong County. He noted that some rehabilitation efforts have already been undertaken over the years, but many key routes remain inaccessible or in disrepair.
The senator identified three priority sites for additional bridge construction:
1. Gbangbawo River in District #3 — connecting Gbarnga to Van-ykan, Funetolee and Butersue communities.
2. Yelee River in District #5 — linking Gbartala to Taylor-Ta, Funetolee and onward to Compound #2 in Grand Bassa County.
3. Lower Jor River in District #3 — connecting Gbarnga to David-Ta and District #5.
Moye emphasized that the people of Bong County “subscribe to the politics of progress and development” and continue to support initiatives that promote growth and peaceful coexistence across the county.

The communication was copied to the Office of the President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the President Pro Tempore of the Senate, the Bong County Legislative Caucus, the Bong County Superintendent, the United Bong County Association in the Americas, and the Citizens Movement for Change.
Meanwhile, information reaching us says the Ministry of Public Works has announced a $1.3 million technical plan for a bridge construction in Gbarnga that Bility has opted to construct in Bong County, the plan was presented to Musa Bility through the House of Representatives. The Minister has approved Bility’s construction of the bridge, stipulating key proposals to prevent any future damage, given Gbarnga’s large population. Bility is now set to begin Construction.
