Monrovia, Liberia ~ Margibi County Senator and senior Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) stalwart Nathaniel F. McGill has cautioned businessman and political leader of the Citizens Movement For Change ( CMC ) Musa H. Bility against pursuing a presidential run in 2029, insisting that the next election “belongs” to former President George M. Weah.
Speaking Sunday, November 23, 2025, on One-on-One with the CEO on Spoon TV/FM, McGill described Bility as a “personal friend” but maintained that his presidential ambition should be put aside in favor of Weah’s anticipated comeback.
“Musa is my own friend, but let him take his heart from the presidency in 2029 because that is George Weah’s time,” McGill said. “Musa can be anyone in Liberia but not president in 2029 while George Weah is contesting.”
McGill’s remarks come amid growing speculation over the political intentions of both men as various parties begin positioning ahead of the 2029 race.
Bility, in a swift response, pushed back at McGill’s assertions, arguing that Liberia must move beyond the CDC era.
“To my dear brother and friend, Nathaniel Farlo McGill, ‘Opportunity comes only but once.’ CDC has had its opportunity. This is CMC’s time,” Bility stated. “Don’t let the locust eat away more years. Please stand with us, guys, let us reclaim our country. Don’t let a bruised ego blur your vision for a better tomorrow.”
Political analysts say the exchange reflects increasing tensions within opposition circles as new alliances and rivalries begin to emerge ahead of the next presidential contest.
