The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) detachment in Lofa County has announced a major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on illicit drugs, seizing narcotics valued at L$16,804,000—equivalent to US$88,442.
The operation, carried out on November 22, 2025, in Voinjama City, has sent shockwaves throughout the county and reinforced the LDEA’s growing momentum in the fight against drug trafficking.
According to authorities, the confiscated substances included 8,402 scrips of high-grade Tramadol, a potent opioid commonly smuggled and abused across the region. The haul was intercepted at the Monrovia Parking area in central Voinjama.
Officials confirmed the arrest of 30-year-old Blessing William, a Kpelleh from Bong County, who was taken into custody in connection with the illegal consignment. William has since been charged under Sections 14.83, 14.85, and 14.89 of the Liberian Penal Law.
The LDEA’s Lofa County Director-General praised the coordinated efforts of the joint security forces, describing the seizure as a clear demonstration of Liberia’s commitment to dismantling drug networks.
“This is not just about burning drugs—it’s about safeguarding our communities,” the Director-General said.
Local residents have widely applauded the agency’s action, calling for even tougher measures to curb the growing influence of narcotics in the county.
The LDEA has vowed to intensify its operations by strengthening intelligence gathering and enhancing collaboration with other security agencies in order to disrupt drug syndicates operating in and around Lofa County.
