Several members of the Liberian Legislature may be preparing to formally join the Unity Party (UP) following a closed-door meeting with Vice President Jeremiah Koung on Thursday, according to statements released by Representative Prince Toles.
Rep. Toles confirmed that he and other lawmakers, along with party officials, held discussions with the Vice President as part of what he described as an ongoing series of engagements leading up to an expected mass crossover.
“Today, we joined several lawmakers and party officials in a meeting with the Honorable Vice President of the Republic of Liberia,” Toles said. “This is the first of many such meetings in preparation for their official joining of the Unity Party on December 6, 2025… We will think, love and build Liberia.”
The Thursday’s meeting signals increased political movements within the Legislature as the year comes to a close.
If confirmed, the December 6 crossover would mark one of the largest collective defections to the Unity Party since the 2023 general elections.
