World Bank Unveils 2025–2030 Development Plan in Bong County

Suakoko, Bong County — The World Bank Group has launched its 2025–2030 Country Partnership Framework (CPF) at Cuttington University’s Suakoko Campus, outlining its development priorities for Liberia over the next five years.

The gathering brought together Bank officials, county authorities, educators, entrepreneurs, students, and agricultural actors to discuss the future direction of support to the country.

World Bank Country Representative Mrs. Georgia Wallen described the new CPF as “the last leg of the race to Liberia Rising, Liberia Agenda 2030,” noting that the coming period will be driven by urgency, delivery, and measurable impact.

She said the framework centers on a single guiding purpose: creating the foundation for more and better jobs in Liberia.

“Everything we do, say, or write over the next five years will be motivated and focused around this core ambition,” she emphasized.

Wallen highlighted four main outcome areas:

Reducing learning poverty by improving early-grade literacy and numeracy and expanding skills development.

Increasing energy access, aligned with the government’s ARREST agenda to raise national access from 34% to 75%—a target the Bank pledged to back.

Strengthening governance, including digitizing public services and improving domestic resource mobilization.

Boosting private investment by improving the business climate and supporting high-potential sectors such as agro-industry and sustainable forestry.

She stressed that youth and women will be at the center of the partnership, noting that with 63% of Liberians under age 25, expanding opportunities for young people is essential to harnessing the country’s demographic dividend.

She also underscored that empowering women could significantly increase their contribution to economic activity and boost national GDP.

“We really believe fundamentally in the future of Liberia. We believe that Liberia can win,” Wallen said, reaffirming the World Bank’s commitment to Vision 2030.

She thanked local stakeholders for their input during consultations and emphasized that implementation will determine the success of the new framework.

“Implementation is when the rubber hits the road,” she added.

The launch sets the stage for renewed collaboration between the World Bank, the government, and development partners to promote inclusive growth and long-term economic transformation.
