The House of Representatives of the 55th National Legislature has unanimously voted to approve the draft national budget for Fiscal Year 2026, amounting to USD 1.2 billion.
The decision was reached during an extraordinary session held Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m., following the presentation of a detailed report from the Joint Committee on Ways, Means, Finance, and Public Accounts. The committee’s assessment cleared the way for full House approval.
There were forty-two Lawmakers who voted in support of the passage while Rep. Musa Hassan Bility of Seven Nimba County and Rep. Frank Saah Focko nine Montserrado County voted against, citing the budget inability to the meet the basic needs of the ordinary citizens.
With the House’s endorsement secured, the draft budget will now be forwarded to the Liberian Senate for concurrence, the next step required before final passage into law.
