The Minister of Youth and Sports, Cllr. Jeror Cole Bangalu, has described the National County Sports Tournament as a powerful national symbol of peace, inclusion, and unity.
Speaking at the tournament opening ceremony in Maryland County, Saturday, Minister Bangalu emphasized that the event brings together young athletes from all counties, showcasing not only talent and discipline but also hope for a stronger and more united Liberia.
He noted that the competition serves as a platform for promoting teamwork, national pride, and constructive youth engagement.
According to the Youth and Sports Minister, the tournament creates opportunities for young people to excel both on and off the field, reinforcing values of fair play, respect, and cooperation.
He stressed that sports remain a vital tool for fostering social cohesion and peaceful coexistence across the country.
Cllr. Bangalu extended commendation to the host county and its organizing committee, as well as sponsors and participating county teams, for their dedication to the development and welfare of young athletes.
He acknowledged their collective efforts in ensuring the success of the national event.
He concluded by urging athletes to compete with passion, respect the rules of the game, and uphold the pride of their respective counties and the nation at large, expressing hope that peace, friendship, and unity will continue to grow through sports.
