The CEO and President of the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) has been appointed as board member for Africa Oil Week, Africa’s premier annual event for the oil and gas sector.
Mr. Lai described the appointment as a significant milestone for both NOCAL and Liberia, noting that it places the country on a key regional and international energy platform.
He said he is deeply honored to represent Liberia and NOCAL on the board of the high-level forum, which brings together industry leaders, investors, and policymakers from across Africa and beyond.
According to Mr. Lai, his new role will strengthen efforts to market and promote Liberia’s subsurface and above-ground energy opportunities, in line with NOCAL’s mandate to drive sustainable energy development and attract responsible investment.
“This appointment provides an important opportunity to elevate Liberia’s energy potential, foster strategic partnerships, and ensure that the benefits of oil and gas development translate into meaningful gains for the Liberian people,” he stated.
Mr. Lai further expressed his commitment to working with fellow board members and stakeholders to advance Liberia’s oil and gas sector, while spotlighting the country’s investment opportunities on the continental stage.
Africa Oil Week: Energy is regarded as one of Africa’s most influential platforms for shaping dialogue and policy around energy development, investment, and sustainability. Mr. Lai’s appointment is expected to enhance Liberia’s visibility and engagement within the regional and global energy industry.
