16 Students Complete Internship Program at Liberian Agricultural Company

By Staff Reporter

Sixteen students from the Booker Washington Institute have successfully completed a three-month internship at the Liberian Agricultural Company (LAC), gaining valuable hands-on experience in their respective fields.

The internship program, which also welcomes students from institutions across Liberia—including the Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC), Stella Maris Polytechnic, Cuttington University, the University of Liberia, Grand Bassa University, and the Liberia Organized Institute of Commerce (LOIC)—has been running for several years.

It is designed to prepare young professionals for future careers while providing opportunities to join LAC.

During the three-month program, interns were assigned to departments aligned with their areas of study, such as mechanics, electrical work, ICT, and accounting.

The company provided food, accommodation, transportation, and other essentials to ensure that interns felt supported and valued throughout the program.

Mrs. Sandra Gboco, Human Resource Supervisor at LAC, emphasized the importance of the program, saying, “This internship is vital for us and for the students.

It allows young people to gain real, hands-on experience in their chosen fields while preparing them for future careers.

At the same time, it helps us build the next generation of skilled professionals who may one day join LAC.

As the students return home, they carry with them new confidence, practical knowledge, and a deep appreciation for the opportunity.

LAC has expressed its commitment to expanding the program to allow even more students to develop their skills and gain meaningful experience in the years ahead.

This initiative underscores the growing collaboration between educational institutions and the private sector in Liberia, aiming to equip young professionals with the tools they need to succeed in a competitive job market.
