Philadelphia, PA, USA — Public Safety for Liberia (PS4 Liberia Inc.), a U.S.-based nonprofit representing member of the Liberian diaspora, has announced its endorsement of a January 7, 2026, petition calling on the National Legislature to pass the Liberia Business Development Authority (LBDA) Act.
The petition is being advanced by the Patriotic Entrepreneurs of Liberia (PATEL Inc.), in collaboration with the Economic Action Movement of Liberia (EAM), to reignite legislative action on the LBDA bill first submitted in March 2023.
PS4 Liberia stressed that meaningful public safety and long-term national stability are closely linked to economic inclusion and employment. The organization noted that persistent unemployment and limited business opportunities continue to threaten social stability and slow development.
According to PS4 Liberia, enactment of the LBDA Act would support job creation, safeguard Liberian-owned businesses, curb unfair economic practices, establish a Fast-Track Economic Court to handle commercial disputes, and strengthen transparency and economic accountability.
The group emphasized that the January 7 petition is nonpartisan and should be viewed as a national development effort rather than a political undertaking. It urged Liberians across all 15 counties and those living abroad to support the initiative.
PS4 Liberia added that the legislation would help create a fair and stable business environment for both the current workforce and future leaders. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to civic education, public safety advocacy, and the effective use of diaspora expertise to advance Liberia’s long-term development objectives.
