President Boakai Returns to Monrovia After Christmas Visit to Lofa

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai has returned to Monrovia following a five-day Christmas visit to Lofa County, where he engaged citizens across several communities and participated in development and reconciliation activities.

The President concluded his annual visit on Saturday, December 27, after a series of engagements mainly within the Foya Statutory District. The visit featured town hall-style interactions, goodwill exchanges, and activities focused on local governance and development.

During a stop in Porluma Town, Waum Administrative District, President Boakai witnessed the official induction of the Township and District Commissioners. While there, he also broke ground for the construction of a new district hospital, an initiative aimed at improving healthcare access in the area.

Residents of Porluma welcomed the President and praised his leadership approach, noting his emphasis on reconciliation and direct engagement with communities. As part of the visit, local residents presented livestock, including a cow, as a sign of appreciation.

The President later traveled to Tengia Town in the Tengia Administrative District, where he was greeted by residents with gifts and messages of support. He also paid a visit to the newly refurbished grave of his late grandfather, Honorable Kettor Ngrulumai.

Activities continued in Worsongar, the President’s birthplace, where he received an enthusiastic welcome. While there, President Boakai visited the bridge linking Liberia and Sierra Leone, which he previously constructed, and inspected local clinic and school facilities.

Back in Foya City, the President met with visitors from across Lofa County and neighboring areas. Many came bearing goodwill messages, development proposals, and concerns affecting their communities.

President Boakai has maintained a longstanding tradition of spending the Christmas holidays in Lofa County, particularly in Foya and surrounding communities, a practice seen by residents as reinforcing his connection to his roots and commitment to grassroots engagement.
