Monrovia, Liberia — Political Leader of the People’s Actions Party (PAP) and Senator of Montserrado County, Saah H. Joseph, has formally declared his intention to contest for a position on the Executive Committee of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) at its upcoming Elective Congress scheduled for April.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Senator Joseph cited his long-standing involvement in football administration and development as the foundation of his decision to seek elective office within the country’s football governing body.
“Given my extensive involvement in the development of sports nationwide, coupled with my roles as the CEO and President of Gardnersville FC, and my previous tenure as President of Liberia’s renowned Invincible Eleven football club, I wish to formally declare my intention to participate in the LFA Elective Congress scheduled for April as an aspiring member of the Executive Committee,” Joseph said.
Senator Joseph is widely known not only for his political career but also for his deep roots in Liberian football. Over the years, he has been an active administrator at club level, contributing to youth development, community-based sports initiatives, and the professional growth of football institutions. His leadership at Gardnersville FC and Invincible Eleven—one of Liberia’s most decorated football clubs—has earned him recognition among sports stakeholders.
The LFA Elective Congress is expected to bring together delegates from clubs, associations, and other football stakeholders across the country to elect members of the association’s leadership, who will oversee the strategic direction of football development in Liberia for the next term.
Observers say Senator Joseph’s entry into the race introduces a blend of political experience and sports administration expertise, a combination that could influence discussions around governance, transparency, and grassroots development within Liberian football.
While he has not yet disclosed the specific portfolio he intends to contest for, Joseph emphasized his commitment to strengthening football structures, supporting local clubs, and promoting sustainable development of the sport nationwide.
The April congress is anticipated to be keenly contested, with several candidates expected to vie for positions on the LFA Executive Committee as stakeholders look ahead to the future of football in Liberia.
