What was intended to be a holiday gift has been rejected by residents of Neakei Town in Gbarpolu County.
The town has termed Senator Amara Konneh’s L$3,000, which is US$17 equivalent, as ‘insulting and disrespectful.
According to the residents, over 1,500 people live in Neakei Town. They wondered how could Senator Konneh send 3000 LD for them to distribute with the town people, describing his gesture as a slap in the face.
When you divide LD 3,000 among 1,500 people as gifted by Senator Konneh, every resident of Neakei Town will get LD 2 for their holiday. According to multiple residents speaking to Verity, the Senator’s 3K has been returned.
They have however challenged Senator Konneh to focus on developing the deplorable roads, instead of donating cash.
More details to follow.
