Tragic Incident in Bong County: Man Reportedly Dies by Gunshot Suicide

GBARMUE – In the early hours of January 26, 2026, James Mulbah, a local resident of Gbarmue Town, Bong County District Three, allegedly shot himself with a single-barrel gun, resulting in his death.

Eyewitnesses and family sources reported that James showed no unusual signs in the days leading up to the incident, describing his actions as unexpected and unimaginable.

James, a well-known figure in the community and involved in the local gold business, was considered the only source of income for his family. His mother expressed that his death would plunge the family into deeper poverty and hardship.

Hawa Perry, believed to be James’ girlfriend, revealed that he had recently expressed feelings of suffering but had timely meals. She noted that despite his struggles, the incident took them all by surprise.

Reports indicate that James had previously attempted suicide in 2022, but local authorities intervened and seized his weapon. Witnesses mentioned that he made threatening remarks towards a neighbor shortly before the incident occurred, an allegation yet to be confirmed.

Authorities in Gbarmue Town have called the incident a major setback for both the victim’s family and the community. Mr. James Kartor, Head of the Police Crime and Services Division in Bong County, confirmed that James was pronounced dead at Phebe Hospital in Suakoko District after being rushed for medical checkup.

He stated that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the events leading to the tragedy, including the victim’s prior complaints about his struggles in life.
