NPA Launches US$1 Million Drive to Fix Failing Facilities at University of Liberia

By: Archie Boan

The National Port Authority (NPA), under the leadership of Managing Director Hon. Sekou Hussein Dukuly, has launched a bold US$1 million fundraising campaign aimed at reversing years of infrastructural decline at the University of Liberia (UL).

Themed “Coming Together to Revitalize UL,” the initiative seeks to urgently improve the learning environment at the country’s flagship public university. The funds will be used to procure 30,000 armchairs, rehabilitate dilapidated classrooms, and repair failing bathroom facilities across the campus.

Providing an overview of the program, Hon. Dukuly emphasized that the effort is a collaborative national undertaking, backed by government agencies and private sector partners, including APM Terminals and other institutions.

The official launch was held at the University of Liberia Capitol Hill Campus Auditorium and brought together senior government officials, business executives, development partners, students, and key stakeholders, all united in support of UL’s renewal.

According to the NPA Managing Director, the fundraising drive reflects a deeper commitment to education, social responsibility, and national development, stressing that investing in the University of Liberia is an investment in the country’s future workforce and long-term progress
