Aurtera Natural Resources Ltd Begins Hand Pump Project in Doegboan to Provide Safe Drinking Water

Doegboan Town, Rivercess County – The Country Manager of Aurtera Natural Resources Ltd, Moses B. Goweh, has announced the start of a major community support project in Doegboan Town with the installation of a new hand pump to provide safe drinking water to residents.

Speaking in Doegboan on Tuesday, Goweh said his company had returned to the town to fulfill a promise made two weeks ago after learning about the poor water conditions faced by the community. He disclosed that all materials for the hand pump have already been purchased, and engineers are expected to arrive on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, to begin construction.

According to Goweh, Aurtera Natural Resources Ltd, a Canadian-based mining company, has expressed strong interest in carrying out exploration and possible mining activities in the area. He explained that while the company is still processing the necessary legal documents from the national government, it decided to immediately respond to the urgent needs of the community.

“When we came here two weeks ago, we saw the kind of water the people are drinking,” Goweh said. “To see people in this 21st century still drinking from a creek was very troubling. That is why we took this bold step to help, even before any social agreement.”

He clarified that the hand pump project is not part of any social or mining agreement, but rather a humanitarian gesture to address one of the town’s most serious challenges — access to clean and safe drinking water. Goweh further stated that the construction work is expected to be completed within ten days, noting that the company has already secured all required materials. He added that the community will only need to supply sand and gravel, for which the company will fully pay.

Speaking on behalf of the town, Assistant Town Chief Napoleon Johnson expressed gratitude and surprise at the company’s swift action. He said Doegboan has often been overlooked in development efforts, making the company’s support especially meaningful.

Johnson revealed that the town’s previous hand pump is broken, forcing residents to rely on a nearby creek for drinking water. He said this situation has already caused serious health problems, including a recent diarrhea outbreak that led to more than four residents being quarantined by health authorities.

The Assistant Town Chief assured that the community is ready to cooperate with the company and support the construction process. He described the project as a blessing that will improve health conditions and bring relief to the people of Doegboan.

With engineers set to arrive and work scheduled to begin immediately, residents are hopeful that access to safe drinking water will soon become a reality in the town.
